What we’ve been up to lately!

Over the past two weeks, residents and staff at Crouched Friars have been busy with a variety of fun activities plus we’ve had some refurbishments done!

Let’s take a look in more detail at what we’ve been up to recently.

Lounge Makeover

Crouched Friars’ main lounge recently had a makeover! The lounge had a coat of new paint and new furniture for the residents to enjoy and relax in. We wanted the room to have that modern feel that is still comfortable and homely. We are all so happy with the end result!

BBC Radio Essex

Did you know we recently appeared on BBC radio Essex?! Crouched was invited onto the show to discuss the procedures in place at the home to deal with the scorching hot weather! It was an honour to be chosen to speak on behalf of the Essex care homes. Our deputy home manager, Lyn Barry, was able to discuss how we were keeping our residents cool in the heatwave and what measures we put in place to keep people safe in extreme temperatures. And who doesn’t love ice cream?!

Care home Commonwealth Games

This week, to celebrate the start of the Commonwealth Games 2022, Crouched Friars took part in a local care home Commonwealth Games! It was a fantastic opportunity for residents to get involved in a fun day of activities and sports. The sports competed in were football, curling, walking, shot put and a dancing competition, plus much more!

It was a fantastic result for the home as residents brought back four first place prizes, one-second place and two third places. We are so proud of everyone that took part, it was a lot of fun!

Keeping active is great for our residents’ physical and mental wellbeing, and it’s always nice to celebrate what’s going on out in the world. Everyone is really looking forward to watching the Commonwealth Games.

Crouched Friars are currently welcoming new residents and recruiting for more staff to join their friendly team. If you would like more information about how we can support your loved one at our Colchester care home please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We will gladly discuss all of your options with you and put your mind at ease about any concerns you may have. You can visit the about us page of our website here or call us on 01206 572647.
